Don't reply to or quote spam

Do not, under any circumstances, reply to or quote spam.
Other than in the most serious circumstances, we always contact any user (other than spammers obviously) before moderating one or more of their posts. If you reply to a spam post then we have to contact you to ask you to moderate your post which turns something that should take 30 seconds into a massive job. Taking things to an extreme, the alternative to contacting people to moderate their own posts is to moderate posts immediately as we see fit without informing the interested parties of anything. In general, we contact people in the hope of them learning from their mistakes and thus over time reducing the amount of moderation required. Also, it's a couresty. I, personally, do not want anyone interferring with anything I post on this forum.

In general, if you are contacted, and you don't agree with the moderation request, depending on the circumstances, the moderator, in consultation with another moderator, may decide to moderate the post for you, keeping record of the original post for review (and so that it could be restored at a later date if ultimately it's decided by the club committee that moderation was not required). The user has the opportunity to go to the club committee and put their case forward if they feel strongly enough.

If you do find spam on the forum, report it (as a lot of ye do already), or contact a moderator
