hi olivia,

sorry that it took this long to respond to you. work's internet policy hates MBUL.

welcome to the club. as laura already said, we have a number of bikes available to beginners and Erasmus students, and helmets are also available. the only requirement we need is for you to sign up to the club. the price for students is ¤2, quite a deal compared to other clubs. the sunday cycles are the beginner cycles and they normally go to cratloe woods. the cycle pace is easy enough and the more experienced club members will help you out with technique on the trails if you haven't ridden offroad before.

i would advise you to wear a pair of shorts or tracksuit bottoms (or proper cycling shorts if you have them) that you don't mind getting dirty, and to bring a rain-jacket and a bottle of water in a bag that again you don't mind getting dirty. also bring some money for our traditional shop stop where we grab some food, chat a bit and return back up to the woods for some more fun and messing about. wearing a pair of gloves to protect your hands is advisable.

just remember to book the bike and helmet on the cycles section of our forum the week before every cycle.

again welcome to the club,

Dawn,
el presidente

Engineer (y/n): no, a teacher of crazy adolescents!

Name: Sorcha Mac Mathúna

Age: 21 ...for the time being

Gender: Bit of a tom-boy, I don't conform to all of societies expectations for being female...

From: The bog on Kildare/Laois/Offaly border

Year: my UL id number began with zero-two, so depending on when you read this, I'm an alumni of varying years

Course: I finished woodwork/construction/tech graph teaching - miraculously!

Bike(s): I own a kona blast, but it does not see must day light - nor moonshine

Lycra/ Baggies: I fear lycra - and so should you all!!

Interests: talking total and utter rubbish to people of any description, unless they annoy me. I'm a goldfish, anything is interesting for different lengths of time...

Favourite Music: Eamonn has just paused my typing to put on music. Snow Patrol's 3rd bar. His choice - I approve :P I would listen to almost anything, so long as it suits my mood at the time!!

Favourite Book: I'm useless to read. I loved the few books that followed on from 'Under the Hawthorn Tree' when I was in primary school. Read them all - can't really remember them now, other than the fact that I enjoyed them :) Dean Koontz- The Watchers was a good read for a long slow summer too.

Favourite movie: Saw 300 last night. The cinematography really impressed me. The story line kept my attention for the duration of the film, given that I was tired - that's good. I like the typical films like shawshank redemption and all that. I like Bridget Jones Diary and Love Actually when I'm in one of those humours. I don't have much opinion on films. I generally enjoy what ever's going...

Favourite Tv Series: The care bears was deadly. The smurfs were even cooler. Scooby Doo was cute and Superted was super-tastic!! need I say more :?: :)

Favourite computer games: I always enjoyed the quake demo we had on the computer at home, but my all time favourite computer game was from the film of the same name.'Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail' no longer available anywhere!!
