Front rings

I have a triple front setup turned to double and bashring,

Can I use a 2x10 front mech or do I have to use 3x10 and dial in the limiter screw seeing as it's a triple chainring cranks?

I'm pretty sure either should be fine. Front derailleurs are so 2012 though..

Upon further research it appears to depend upon the chainring size.. If your 2 chainrings fit within the limits of the derailleur a proper 2x10 one should be fine, but if you've just kept the 22/32 from your triple it might not. The spacing between the chainrings seems to be the same though.

In any case I don't see why there would be any difference in performance between a 3 and 2 speed derailleur/shifter setup provided you set the limiter screw correctly on the derailleur.

I'm running 22/36 it doesn't bother me really just don't wanna go ordering a 2 speed and find out the sides are rubbing due to the rings being offset from where they're expected!!

It wouldn't be the side, it would be the bottom, because the 2 speed derailleur doesn't have the same vertical movement

Either type of derailleur should be fine. My Canyon is running E13 22-36 chainrings and a 10 speed derailleur on the front. Not sure whether it's a 2 or 3 speed, but I have my suspicions they're geometrically very similar. No front derailleur setup will run in every gear without rubbing though. Usually you set it for minimum rubbing towards the bottom gears in the smallest chain ring and the top gears in the biggest one. Getting a quiet middle ring and first is nice too, but may or may not be achievable.
