Trip chats

Postby cathalferris » 10 Apr 2017, 10:23

(following up on a chat at the BH last night)

Rostrevor trip, April 7-9

Great trip! 7 of us went, staying in the beautiful accomodation in the Carlingford Adventure Centre apartments in the town. Beautiful place to stay. Dry and mostly clear weather thankfully..

Uplift day on Saturday. Mega was mostly dry and a little dusty with not a lot of grip on the hips. Pulse was grippy and fast and very rough. No injuries from our group, but we had to assist with another rider that fell on Mega losing a few teeth and a fairly bad concussion. A little bit of exploring on the Bin runs made for some steep forest fun (especially for me on a hardtail for this bit!)

Sunday was XC type stuff on the Carlingford side of the Lough, and leaving for UL in the afternoon.

No injuries requiring first aid either for us thankfully!

We left the trailer and bikes at Zak's house for security reasons, turned out to be a good way to ensure safety of the bikes and it avoided a lot of hassle with parking and the tight turns on Carlingford's streets. Also worth noting that Carlingford on the weekend is stag and hen central, and the pubs are age-limiting on entry. Get your chips in Ma Bakers early to avoid the rush!
